Here’s how eJump played a crucial role in developing and enhancing the app with key functionalities that cater to both individuals and businesses.
With car ownership being widespread, users face the ongoing challenge of maintaining their vehicles, from insurance renewals to routine inspections. Carfix was designed to meet these needs by offering features such as damage assessments, risk inspections, and easy integration with various service providers. A significant challenge in this project was coordinating development with a team from another development company, while ensuring the app remains cohesive and user-friendly.
Carfix was designed to be an ambitious project. It ventured into areas that require navigating complicated bureaucracy, for example database integration between a public company and public registries. For anyone familiar with data and privacy issues in Romania (and the EU, in general), this was no easy feat. And once done, it had to be transformed into a quality user experience for end-point users.
eJump approached the development of Carfix with a focus on creating a user-friendly, comprehensive solution for vehicle management. The app needed to cater to a wide array of services while remaining simple to navigate and easy for users to manage their automotive needs. Thus, the app design prioritized a streamlined UI and a good UX.
The first component was allowing the app to provide streamlined risk inspection and damage assessment processes. eJump designed a simplified flow that allowed users to do this directly from the app (with no immediate redirection or third party involvement). By inputting relevant data about their vehicle, such as make, model, and personal details like driving history and age, users can quickly complete the assessment processes. This eliminates the need for lengthy in-person appointments and reduces the stress associated with vehicle damage.
As a secondary component, eJump integrated Autonom’s roadside assistance services. In the event of a breakdown or emergency, users could quickly request roadside support or towing services directly through Carfix. Additionally, the app allowed users to schedule appointments at auto repair shops, making it easy to book routine maintenance or repairs without leaving the platform. This combination of emergency assistance and maintenance scheduling provided multi-layered support for vehicle owners involved in roadside incidents. It simplified an owner’s ability to handle everything from an unexpected roadside emergency to scheduling the next oil change.
A standout technical feature added by eJump was the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) decoding capability, integrated through R.A.R. (Romanian Automotive Registry). By simply inputting the chassis number, users could automatically retrieve detailed vehicle information, reducing the need for manual data entry. Once a vehicle was added to the Carfix “garage,” users could also create alerts for important tasks such as renewing RCA, ITP (periodic technical inspection), CASCO insurance, and other essential services like car revisions. The app provided notifications when these tasks were due, ensuring that users remained compliant with legal requirements and avoided penalties, all while keeping their vehicle in optimal condition.
Finally, eJump developed a document management and autofill feature, streamlining the user experience even further. This feature allowed users to securely store personal documents such as their driver’s license, ID card, and vehicle-related documentation in a single, accessible location within the app. When users need to complete a risk inspection or damage assessment, the stored information (documents and car info alike) is automatically filled in, saving time and reducing the possibility of human error. This automation not only sped up the process but also made managing personal and vehicle data much more convenient for the user.
One of Carfix’s standout features is its integration with multiple insurance providers for RCA (mandatory car insurance) purchases. Users can input vehicle details, including personal driving history, and receive offers from different insurers directly in the app. This functionality ensures users get the best possible deal by comparing offers without needing to visit multiple websites or offices.
Through integration with the R.A.R. (Romanian Automotive Registry), eJump added VIN decoding capabilities, allowing users to automatically retrieve vehicle details using the chassis number. Once a vehicle is added to the Carfix “garage,” users can also set up custom alerts for critical tasks such as RCA, ITP (periodic technical inspection), revisions, CASCO insurance, and more. The app notifies users when it’s time to renew these items, ensuring they stay compliant and avoid penalties.
Details such as ID card and driving license information can be added to the app and can later be used to simplify interaction with other services. Carfix users literally have no reason to bother with physical documents once they start using the app.
