SPLM company is one of eJump’s most innovative clients. Our cooperation started when their founder came to us with a novel idea on making carwashes simple and convenient. We already had a big portfolio or automotive and automotive service businesses so we said “why not?”

We loved their branding, btw. The use of the inuendo SPLM originates from abbreviation of the Romanian phrase “spală-mă”, which translates to “wash me”. Usually, this term was playfully inscribed on the dirty cars in parking lots, serving as a polite hint from the friendly neighbours that it was time for a car wash.

The Problem

Nowadays, increased environmental restrictions on residential car washing are expected to boost the demand for self-car wash services. Additionally, growing interest in automobile maintenance is a significant driver of the market. However, due to the rise in online shopping for convenience, automobile service industry players are increasingly focusing on e-tailing.

The dynamics of the Romanian retail market have been influenced by increased consumption and economic growth, with consumers’ expectations for digital services focused on fast payment and ease of use. Winning approaches now focus more on the customer experience and don’t bother them with the background process.

Self-car wash service has appeared more recently in Romania due to the high demand for car maintenance services. Previously, the standard car washes were carried out by the employees involving hands-on cleaning and scrubbing of vehicles. For customers to be able to obtain a booking for their car wash service, the payment process was handled manually, typically involving cash or credit card transactions processed by staff on-site. Companies had even more of a hassle to wash their fleets. Often, employees had to pay out-of-pocket and later reimburse their costs.

To facilitate access to the self-car wash service, eJump worked with SPLM and developed an app with a strong emphasis on user-friendliness, consisting mainly of the integration of online token functionality for convenient transactions.

The Solution

SPLM was created to be part of the shift from the conventional car wash approach towards a more innovative self-service washing experience. To be readily available to customers, it took the form of an iOS and Android-compatible app.

The SPLM app brings self-car wash service to customers. It replaces the need of traditional payment and streamlines the process of finding an available self-car wash. SPLM offers the convenience of purchasing tokens online and a user-friendly application to organize your car wash.

An essential aspect in app development was the need to allow for simplified back-end management, an essential functionality for businesses that function by aggregating service providers. The app needed to offer a friendly UI to end-users while at the same allowing for quick additions of service points from the side of SPLM administrators. A new car-wash provider joins? It’ll be present on the app in no time.

The app underwent a transition from its initial development stage, with the front-end development carried out using React Native for both the iOS and Android platforms. Meanwhile, the admin dashboard was created using React, while the back end was developed on the Laravel framework.

The SPLM wallet

This feature allows businesses to establish employee profiles and configure individual credit limits. This not only promotes cost control but also fosters a sense of responsibility among employees. Plus, it’s easy to manage: no need to engage in complicated reimbursements with employees washing company cars. The app allows for both personal and shared wallets, allowing multiple people to use the same credit and to freeload on something other than streaming apps.

Map integration

SPLM’s services were integrated with Google Maps. Integration enables real-time identification of available car wash facilities, ensuring a prompt and convenient user experience. And yes, it is much easier to use the same map as your navigation app, that way we limit any unwanted errors.

The Dashboard

The SPLM dashboard has various purposes, including an app overview (Homepage, About Us, APP, and Contact) and administrative functionalities.

Administrators can add new car wash facilities, allowing them to customise the layout, workstations, and associated devices to meet the specific needs of each location...

One of the core responsibilities of administrators is the monitoring of all transactions and invoices. This feature ensures a transparent and efficient financial management system, providing insights into the revenue and expenditure of each car wash facility. It also allows for the timely identification and resolution of any financial discrepancies or issues that may arise.

Furthermore, administrators have the flexibility to add team members in the setup and operation of each car wash and workstation. This collaborative approach enhances efficiency, as it enables smooth access among team members.

Business owners or the administrators enjoy several advantages within the system. They can access a range of analytics related to their business, offering valuable insights into performance, customer trends, and profitability. In addition, business owners have the authority to adjust token prices for car wash services. This control over pricing allows them to adapt to market conditions, implement promotions, and respond to changing customer demands.
